Twist drill bit KWB 238680
The KWB 238680 twist drill bit is a precision-engineered cutting tool designed for accurate drilling in a wide range of materials. It is a right-hand, cylindrical shank drill manufactured to DIN 338 with a Type N profile and a 135° tip angle. The bit is precision ground and titanium-nitrided to a gold colour finish for reduced friction and extended tool life. It is supplied as a single drill bit in blister packaging.
The drill bit’s cross-ground geometry to DIN 1412 C and self-centring tip provide fast and accurate hole starts with minimal wandering. Titanium nitride surface treatment lowers friction and increases wear resistance, helping the bit maintain cutting performance under high loads and when working with both alloyed and unalloyed steels, cast steel, die castings, sintered parts, copper, bronze, nickel silver and hard plastics. Precision grinding ensures consistent diameter and straightness for reliable results.
Secure the twist drill bit in a compatible chuck with a matching cylindrical shank and tighten according to the tool manufacturer’s instructions. Select appropriate cutting speed and feed for the material being drilled; use lower speeds for hard or alloyed steels and higher speeds for non-ferrous metals and plastics. Apply steady pressure, allow the drill to cut without excessive force, and clear chips frequently to avoid clogging. Use cutting fluid when drilling steel and other ferrous materials to reduce heat and improve tool life.
For best results, start with a centre punch or pilot hole when drilling hard materials to improve accuracy. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow machine safety guidelines. Replace the drill if wear or chipping reduces centring or cutting performance.
