LANCOM Systems LANCOM RJ45/USB Serial Adapter, USB-A to RJ‑45, 3 m, blue
The LANCOM Systems LANCOM RJ45/USB Serial Adapter is a USB-A to RJ-45 console cable designed for direct serial management connections to routers, switches and other networking devices that use an RJ‑45 console port. The cable has a 3 m length and a blue housing, and it enables command-line access for device configuration, firmware updates and diagnostics without requiring separate serial-to-USB converters.
This adapter provides a straightforward USB console connection to network equipment with RJ‑45 serial ports, eliminating the need for additional serial adapters. Its USB Type-A connector is compatible with common PC and laptop ports and the 3 m cable length offers flexible placement during configuration and troubleshooting. The blue housing makes the cable easy to identify among other cables in a rack or workspace.
Connect the USB Type‑A end of the cable to an available USB port on your PC or laptop and plug the RJ‑45 end into the console port of the networking device. Open a terminal or serial console application on the computer, select the appropriate serial port and configure the required baud rate and serial parameters for the target device. Use the connection to access the command line for configuration, firmware installation or troubleshooting.
Ensure the target device is powered according to its manufacturer instructions before opening the console session. If the computer does not automatically recognise the adapter, install any vendor-provided drivers or verify serial port settings in your operating system. Store the cable coiled loosely to avoid kinking and keep the blue housing visible to simplify identification among other cables.
