Lancom IAP-821 (UK) is a dual-band wireless access point designed for small offices, branch locations and public WLAN deployments that require secure and reliable connectivity. The device supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz operation with a maximum WLAN data rate of up to 867 Mbit/s on 5 GHz (and up to 300 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz). It is equipped with one Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) according to IEEE 802.3af/at. The unit is finished in white and grey and implements a wide range of security protocols including 802.1x RADIUS, AES and multiple EAP methods to support authenticated access.

How to use

Mount the access point according to the site plan in a location with good coverage for intended clients. Connect the unit to the network using a Gigabit Ethernet cable and provide power via a PoE-capable switch or PoE injector that complies with IEEE 802.3af/at. Configure wireless SSIDs, security settings and VLAN or RADIUS parameters through the device management interface or the central LANCOM management system. Verify coverage and throughput with client devices on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and adjust channel selection and transmit power if required.

Usage recommendations

For best performance, place the access point away from large metal objects and other strong RF sources. Use the 5 GHz band for high-throughput client traffic and reserve 2.4 GHz for legacy devices. When deploying multiple access points, plan channel allocation and consider central management to maintain consistent security settings and roaming behaviour.
