The LANCOM LX-6500 is a tri-band wireless access point that supports 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and the new 6 GHz Wi‑Fi 6E band to provide higher aggregated throughput and lower interference in busy WLAN environments. With simultaneous operation across three frequency bands the device delivers multi-gigabit aggregated data rates and is designed for business and enterprise deployments requiring high capacity, low latency and reliable client distribution across available radio spectra.

Advantages

The LX-6500 uses Wi‑Fi 6E (IEEE 802.11ax) to open the interference-reduced 6 GHz band and increase available radio spectrum, enabling aggregated data rates up to 8.4 Gbps through concurrent use of 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz. It supports 4x4 MU‑MIMO in both downlink and uplink for improved multi-client capacity, OFDMA for efficient handling of mixed traffic including small IoT packets, and Target Wake Time (TWT) to reduce client power consumption. Management is flexible: operate the access point via LANCOM Management Cloud, WEBconfig or a central WLAN controller. Power can be supplied via IEEE 802.3bt PoE or an optional PSU. Bluetooth Low Energy (5.1) and USB 3.0 provide professional IoT integration options such as asset tracking and electronic signage.

How to use

Install the LX-6500 in a suitable ceiling or wall location with good coverage for client devices. Provide power via a PoE++ (IEEE 802.3bt) port on a switch or use the optional power supply unit. Configure the access point either centrally through the LANCOM Management Cloud or via a local WEBconfig interface; alternatively register and manage it using a WLAN controller. Create SSIDs and assign radio settings to distribute clients across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands for optimal performance. Enable relevant features (MU‑MIMO, OFDMA, TWT) and configure security (EAP methods) according to your network policy.

Usage recommendations

For best results in high-density or mission-critical environments, use a PoE++ (4PPoE) switch for full power delivery, enable band steering and client load balancing to distribute devices across all bands, and reserve the 6 GHz band for modern Wi‑Fi 6E clients and latency-sensitive applications.
