Serial Server Lantronix UDS1100

The Lantronix UDS1100 Serial Server provides a single-port solution to connect RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 devices to Ethernet. Compact and compliant with RoHS/WEEE, the UDS1100 supports 10/100Base-T(X) and common network protocols (TCP/UDP/HTTP/DHCP/Telnet/SNMP) and includes a web server and on-board Flash for firmware and custom web pages. A model with Power over Ethernet (PoE) is available and the unit meets UL 864 9th Edition requirements for fire and alarm panel integration.

How to use

Install the UDS1100 near the serial device and connect the serial interface (RS-232/422/485) and Ethernet cable. Configure network parameters using the built-in web server, Telnet, serial console or the DeviceInstaller utility. For Windows applications, install Lantronix Com Port Redirector to map remote serial ports to local COM ports or configure two UDS1100 units in paired mode to create a virtual serial link across the network. If using modem emulation, send standard AT commands to the serial port to initiate network calls.

Usage recommendations

Place the UDS1100 in a dry, ventilated location and ensure firmware is kept up to date via the web interface or DeviceInstaller. Use the PoE model where local power is not available and secure network access with appropriate firewall and authentication measures when exposing device servers to unfamiliar networks.
