The Network Adapter Level One Games USB 3.0 Type-A to Gigabit Ethernet (USB-0401 V9) is an external adapter that converts a USB 3.0 Type-A port into a Gigabit Ethernet interface. Designed for systems without a built-in wired network port, it offers a compact solution for establishing a stable 1 Gbit/s wired connection for internet access, large file transfers and latency-sensitive applications. The adapter connects to a host device via a USB 3.0 Type-A plug and presents a standard RJ-45 Ethernet port for network cables.
This adapter provides a simple way to add Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to laptops, desktops and other devices with USB 3.0 Type-A ports without internal network hardware. It supports up to 1 Gbit/s throughput over a wired connection to reduce latency and provide more consistent bandwidth than typical wireless links. Its compact external form factor makes it easy to carry and install without opening the host device, and the plug-and-play behavior simplifies setup where the operating system includes compatible drivers.
Connect the adapter’s USB 3.0 Type-A plug to an available USB port on the host device and attach an Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port. The host operating system should detect the adapter and install drivers automatically if supported; otherwise install the appropriate driver provided by the OS or vendor. After the driver is active, configure network settings via the system network manager or control panel to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) or set a static IP address as required. For best performance, use a USB 3.0 port and a Cat5e or better Ethernet cable.
To ensure stable gigabit performance, connect to a USB 3.0 Type-A port on the host and use Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. If the adapter is not recognised automatically, check the operating system’s driver support and install the correct driver. Keep the adapter and cable away from physical strain and extreme temperatures to maintain reliable operation.
