Drill Bit Luna 12 mm Paddle / Spade Wood Bit Cylindrical Shank (203380209)

Luna 12 mm paddle (spade) wood drill bit with a cylindrical shank is engineered for creating clean, large-diameter holes in a range of wood materials. The flat paddle blade removes material quickly while the central point ensures accurate positioning and consistent starts. The cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks, making this bit suitable for use with hand drills and drill drivers for woodworking tasks that require fast, straightforward holemaking.

Advantages

The paddle design provides rapid chip evacuation and efficient cutting in softwoods, hardwoods, plywood and chipboard. The centre point improves accuracy and reduces walking at the start of drilling, while the flat blade produces smooth hole walls and consistent hole diameter. The cylindrical shank enables secure clamping in common chucks and easy bit changes. The bit’s simple geometry makes it durable under normal woodworking loads and easy to sharpen if needed.

Suitable for

• Drilling 12 mm holes in softwood and hardwood
• Creating openings for dowels, fasteners and pass-throughs in furniture assembly
• Drilling holes in plywood, chipboard and laminated panels
• General-purpose on-site and workshop woodworking with hand drills and cordless drivers

Key specifications

• Cutting diameter: 12 mm
• Type: paddle (spade) wood bit
• Shank style: cylindrical shank for standard chucks
• Tip: centre point for accurate positioning
• Material compatibility: softwood, hardwood, plywood, chipboard
• Design: flat paddle blade for fast material removal

How to use

Secure the bit in a compatible drill chuck and tighten firmly. Mark the drilling point and, if necessary, use a pilot mark or centre punch to assist the centre point. Start drilling at low speed to ensure the centre point engages, then increase speed and apply steady, moderate pressure for a clean hole. Withdraw the bit periodically if drilling deep holes to clear chips and avoid clogging. After use, wipe clean and store dry.

Usage recommendations

For best results, use appropriate drill speed for the material: lower speeds for hardwoods and higher speeds for softwoods and thin panels. Clamp workpieces securely to prevent movement and use a sacrificial backing board when drilling through thin or laminated materials to minimize splintering at the exit side.
