Dusk sensor with external probe Maclean Energy MCE34, 230V, 2300W, IP65 probe, LED compatible
Maclean Energy MCE34 is a dusk (twilight) sensor with an external light probe rated IP65 for outdoor use. The device is designed for direct connection to 230V mains and can switch resistive and inductive loads up to 2300W. It is suitable for controlling lighting circuits and is compatible with LED lamps, enabling automatic on/off switching based on ambient light levels. The separate probe allows flexible placement for reliable detection of exterior illumination conditions while the main unit remains in a protected location.
The external IP65 probe provides moisture and dust protection for accurate light sensing in outdoor environments. Compatibility with LED lighting ensures stable operation with modern low-power lamps. The 2300W switching capacity supports multiple fixtures or higher-power luminaires, and the 230V supply makes the sensor suitable for standard mains installations. The separate probe and compact main unit simplify installation and positioning for optimal detection.
This dusk sensor is intended for use with 230V mains systems; it is not suitable for low-voltage installations without an appropriate transformer. Because the probe provides binary switching based on ambient light threshold, it is not designed for dimming control or for applications requiring precise continuous light level adjustment.
Install the main unit in a protected location near the lighting circuit and mount the external IP65 probe where it can reliably sense ambient outdoor light without being directly illuminated by the controlled fixtures. Connect the sensor to the 230V supply and the load according to the wiring diagram supplied with the unit, ensuring power is switched off during installation. Adjust the probe position to avoid shadows or artificial light sources that could affect switching. After connection, the sensor will switch the load automatically when ambient light crosses the integrated threshold between day and night.
For reliable operation place the external probe in a location representative of ambient conditions, away from direct light emitted by the controlled fixtures and street-level glare. Regularly inspect the probe and connections for ingress or damage in harsh environments to maintain consistent switching behavior.
