Heat shrink tube MACLEAN MCTV-531, 2×, 5 m length, ratio 2:1
Heat shrink tube MACLEAN MCTV-531, 2×, 5 m length, ratio 2:1 is a flexible electrical insulation product supplied as two 5-meters lengths. With a 2:1 shrink ratio, this heat shrink tubing reduces its diameter uniformly when heated to provide tight, reliable coverage of cables, wire joints and connectors. It is intended for use in domestic, commercial and light industrial wiring tasks where mechanical protection, electrical insulation and environmental sealing are required.
The product offers uniform shrinkage and consistent wall thickness after heating, ensuring secure coverage and reduced risk of exposed conductors. Supplied in two 5 m lengths, it provides sufficient material for multiple repairs or installations without the need to cut long runs. The 2:1 shrink ratio makes the tubing suitable for a wide range of cable diameters, while the flexible polymer construction allows bending and routing in confined spaces. This tube improves mechanical protection against abrasion and helps keep moisture and dust away from electrical contacts when properly applied.
Cut the required length of heat shrink tube and slide it over the cable or joint before making the electrical connection. After the joint is completed, center the tube over the area to be insulated. Apply heat evenly using a hot air gun, heat shrink tool or carefully with a lighter at a safe distance, moving the heat source continuously to avoid overheating. Heat until the tubing shrinks uniformly and conforms snugly to the underlying cable and connector. Allow the tubing to cool and verify a secure, tight fit before placing the assembly back into service.
Choose tube diameters that allow for proper shrinkage: select an initial diameter approximately twice the diameter of the final covered object so that after shrinking the tube provides full contact. Use a regulated heat source such as a hot air gun for even heating and to prevent damage to adjacent components. For outdoor or moisture-prone installations, ensure end sealing and consider additional adhesive-lined tubing or sealing compounds if exposure is severe.
