Heat shrink tube MACLEAN MCTV-532, 2×6 m, ratio 2:1
Heat shrink tube MACLEAN MCTV-532, 2×6 m, ratio 2:1
Heat shrink tube MACLEAN MCTV-532, supplied as two 6 m lengths with a 2:1 shrink ratio, is intended for insulating and protecting electrical joints, cables and connectors. The tubing provides mechanical protection, improves dielectric isolation and reduces the risk of short circuits and moisture ingress after heat shrinking. Suitable for work on household wiring, automotive harnesses and small electronic assemblies where a reliable insulated covering is required.
The product comes in two continuous 6 m lengths that allow flexible cutting to size for individual tasks. With a 2:1 shrink ratio, the tubing conforms closely to irregular shapes and connector contours, creating a tight protective sleeve. It offers improved abrasion resistance and strain relief compared with bare connections, while maintaining electrical insulation properties appropriate for general cable repair and organization.
Select the appropriate diameter of the tubing so that it fits loosely over the unshrunk joint or connector. Cut the required length with scissors or a cutter, slide the tube over the joint, and apply heat evenly using a heat gun, hot-air tool, or lighter at a safe distance until the tube uniformly contracts and conforms to the underlying shape. Allow the tubing to cool and set before handling to ensure a secure insulating layer.
For consistent results, use a regulated heat gun and maintain an even sweeping motion to avoid overheating. Trim tubing to overlap both sides of the joint sufficiently for reliable insulation and strain relief. Verify material compatibility with nearby components and avoid applying direct flame to sensitive parts.
