Carbide Cutter Makita B-52847 — metal cutting rotary burr 10 x 20 x 6 mm
Makita B-52847 is a solid carbide rotary burr designed for metalworking tasks that require precise material removal. With working dimensions 10 x 20 x 6 mm, this cutter fits common die grinders and rotary tools and is intended for cutting, deburring, shaping and slotting steel and other metals in fabrication, maintenance and repair applications.
The carbide construction offers high hardness and wear resistance for consistent cutting performance and long life compared with high-speed steel burrs. The compact 10 x 20 x 6 mm profile provides access to small or confined areas while maintaining cutting stability. Its cylindrical shape and balanced geometry enable controlled material removal and smooth finishing on workpiece edges and internal profiles.
This rotary burr is designed specifically for metalworking; it is not optimized for wood, plastic or masonry where different flute geometries and materials are preferable. Due to its small size, it is not intended for heavy stock removal on large surfaces—using it for aggressive material removal may reduce tool life and increase the risk of chatter.
Secure the carbide cutter in a compatible die grinder or rotary tool, ensuring the shank is firmly clamped and the tool speed matches the manufacturer's recommendations for carbide burrs on metal. Use steady, controlled passes without excessive force; allow the cutter to remove material at its own cutting rate. Maintain appropriate cooling practices such as intermittent cutting or use of cutting fluid to reduce heat buildup and prolong life. After use, clean metal chips from the flutes and store the burr in a protective holder to avoid damage.
Operate at moderate speeds appropriate for carbide on steel, avoid excessive side pressure, and use light, repeated passes for best results. Clean chips frequently and replace the cutter if significant wear or chipping appears to maintain finish quality and safety.
