Rotary Hammer Makita DHR243ZJ
The Makita DHR243ZJ rotary hammer is a cordless, battery-powered tool designed for drilling and light chiselling in masonry and concrete. Powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion battery system (battery sold separately), it delivers up to 2 J of impact energy and achieves a high impact rate suited to rapid drilling. Compact and lightweight at approximately 3.4 kg, the tool balances manoeuvrability with sufficient power for trade and DIY tasks. Its casing and styling are presented in black and blue finishes.
The DHR243ZJ combines a compact form factor with a relatively high impact rate, providing efficient drilling in concrete while remaining easy to handle. At around 3.4 kg it reduces user fatigue during extended use. The tool's cordless 18V platform offers freedom of movement on-site and compatibility with existing battery ecosystems. A 2 J impact energy rating and an impact rate up to 4700 bpm support steady progress through masonry materials.
Select an appropriate drill bit for masonry applications and secure it in the tool's chuck or bit holder according to the manufacturer's instructions. Fit a compatible 18V Lithium-Ion battery and set the operating mode if the tool offers multiple functions (drilling, hammer drilling, or chiselling). Position the drill perpendicular to the work surface, start at low speed to mark the position, then increase speed and apply steady pressure while allowing the hammer action to do the work. Withdraw periodically to clear debris and avoid excessive heating. Remove the battery before changing bits or performing maintenance.
For best results use high-quality masonry bits designed for SDS-plus systems and match battery capacity to the workload: higher Ah batteries provide longer runtime for intensive drilling. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and dust mask when cutting or drilling concrete. Allow the tool to cool during prolonged heavy use and follow Makita's service schedule for inspection and carbon brush or component checks where applicable.
