Power Hand Planer Makita KP0800J
The Makita KP0800J power hand planer is a compact and precise woodworking tool designed for smoothing, trimming and dimensioning wood surfaces. Equipped with a 620 W motor and an idle speed of 17,000 RPM, this planer provides consistent cutting performance across a variety of timber types. Its maximum planning width of 82 mm and adjustable chip depth up to 2.5 mm let you control material removal for fine finishing or faster stock removal. With a two metre power cable and a low overall weight of 2.6 kg, the unit is suitable for both workshop and on-site use.
The powerful 620 W motor delivers stable RPM under load, ensuring even planing results. A relatively wide 82 mm cutting path reduces the number of passes needed on larger boards. The adjustable chip thickness up to 2.5 mm gives flexibility between light finishing passes and deeper material removal. Compact dimensions and modest weight improve handling and reduce operator fatigue during extended use. Built-in features for cable length and a user-oriented body design simplify setup and storage.
Before use, check that the cutting blades are correctly installed and secured according to the manufacturer's instructions. Adjust the depth of cut to the desired chip thickness and set the fence or guide to maintain a straight pass. Position the planer at the start of the workpiece, switch on the tool and allow the motor to reach full speed before engaging the cut. Move the planer along the workpiece with steady, even pressure; avoid forcing the tool to prevent tear-out. After planing, disconnect the power and inspect the blade condition and cutter block for wear before further use.
Wear appropriate hearing protection due to the 100 dB sound power level and use eye and dust protection when planing. Perform trial passes on scrap material to confirm depth settings and feed speed. For longer blade life and consistent results, keep blades sharp and remove accumulated chips from the sole and cutting area regularly.
