The digital photo adapter allows precise positioning of a compact camera for digiscoping and astrophotography. Mounted on an eyepiece, the adapter lets you move the camera aside to observe through the ocular and then slide it back until the pivot arm clicks into place for taking pictures. It is designed for eyepieces with a larger exit pupil and delivers vignetting-free full-frame images when used with suitable optics. The 2" camera adapter is intended for compact digital cameras with non-removable lenses and pairs with spotting scopes, binoculars and telescopes that have eyepiece diameters between 30 and 63 mm. A sturdy pivot arm with a snap-in locking device supports cameras up to 1 kg.
The adapter provides exact, repeatable alignment of camera and eyepiece, enabling quick transition between visual observation and photography without reattaching equipment. Its pivot arm with a snap-in lock secures the camera firmly in shooting position, while the broad compatibility with 30–63 mm eyepiece diameters makes it usable with many spotting scopes and telescopes. The design reduces vignetting on larger exit-pupil eyepieces, improving image coverage for lunar and other full-frame subjects.
This adapter is not intended for interchangeable‑lens cameras or DSLRs; it is specifically made for compact cameras with fixed lenses. It may not be suitable for eyepieces with exit pupils or barrel shapes outside the 30–63 mm diameter range, and very heavy camera setups above the 1 kg limit should not be used.
Attach the adapter to the eyepiece of your spotting scope or telescope, ensuring the eyepiece diameter falls within the 30–63 mm range. Mount your compact camera onto the adapter and use the pivot arm to move the camera out of the optical path for visual observation. When you want to take a photo, slide the camera along the adapter toward the eyepiece until the pivot arm clicks into the locked position, then capture the image. After shooting, release the lock and pivot the camera aside to resume viewing.
For best results use eyepieces with a larger exit pupil to minimise vignetting; securely lock the pivot arm before taking photos and avoid camera setups exceeding the 1 kg limit to maintain stable alignment.
