Filter adapter Massa for Cokin system, 52mm (model SB614)
Filter adapter Massa for Cokin system, 52mm (model SB614)
The Massa filter adapter for the Cokin system (52 mm) is an accessory that allows lenses with a 52 mm filter thread to accept Cokin-style filter holders and square or rectangular filters. It provides a secure threaded connection between the lens and a Cokin filter holder, enabling the use of graduated neutral density, polarizing or solid neutral density filters for landscape, architecture and long-exposure photography. The adapter is lightweight and designed to align the holder concentrically with the lens axis, preserving image framing and avoiding vignetting on compatible lenses.
This adapter converts a standard 52 mm lens thread into a mount compatible with the Cokin filter holder system, offering quick attachment and removal of square and rectangular filters without the need to screw individual round filters on and off. It maintains the correct optical axis alignment for reduced vignetting when used with appropriate lenses and filter holder positions. The simple threaded design provides reliable mechanical connection and supports a range of filter types commonly used for controlling exposure and contrast in outdoor and studio shooting.
Screw the Massa adapter onto the lens filter thread until it is snug but not over-tightened. Attach the compatible Cokin filter holder to the adapter according to the holder manufacturer’s instructions, then slide the desired square or rectangular filter into the holder slots. Check that the holder is aligned with the lens axis and that filters do not intrude into the field of view at the chosen focal length and aperture. Remove filters and holder by reversing the installation steps and store components in protective cases when not in use.
Before use, confirm the lens does not vignette with the filter holder and selected filter at wide angles. If vignetting occurs, try shifting the holder position or using a thinner filter holder, or verify compatibility with the lens’ focal length. When mounting or removing the adapter, avoid cross-threading and keep threads clean to ensure smooth, repeatable installation.
