MaxLink AFA-1 is a passive PoE adapter set composed of an injector and a splitter designed to deliver DC power over Ethernet cabling to compatible devices. This 100 Mbps cable solution can power most RouteBOARDs and any Ethernet device with a matching DC input connector. The set does not comply with IEEE 802.3af/at active PoE standards and is intended for use with equipment that supports passive PoE or direct DC feeding.

How to use

Connect the injector unit to a DC power source matching the device voltage (typically 12–48V DC) using the provided barrel connector, then connect an Ethernet cable from the injector RJ45 to your network switch or source. At the device end, plug the splitter RJ45 into the Ethernet cable and attach the splitter’s DC jack to the device’s power input. Verify polarity and voltage before connecting to prevent damage. The set carries both power and data over the cable; no PoE negotiation will occur.

Usage recommendations

Use the MaxLink AFA-1 only with devices whose input voltage and polarity match the power source. Do not attempt to power equipment that requires IEEE 802.3af/at negotiation. For cable runs near the upper length limits or for devices with higher current draw, check voltage drop and use thicker-gauge cables or a higher supply voltage within device specifications.
