The MikroTik mAP is a compact 2.4 GHz dual-chain access point with full RouterOS functionality. Its very small form factor and multiple power options — USB, passive PoE or DC jack — allow flexible placement in homes or small offices. The device also can act as a PoE injector: the second Ethernet port supplies up to 500 mA to power another device such as an SXT CPE.

How to use

Place the mAP in the desired location and connect the main Ethernet port to your network or to an internet source. Power the device using a USB cable, a passive PoE injector, or the DC jack according to available infrastructure. Configure wireless and RouterOS settings through Winbox, WebFig or the command line to set SSID, security parameters and routing features. To power another device, connect it to the second Ethernet port; the mAP will supply up to 500 mA via PoE out.

Usage recommendations

For best wireless coverage, mount the mAP in a central, elevated position away from large metal objects and sources of interference. Use the PoE out only with compatible devices and ensure the powered device does not exceed the 500 mA output limit.
