Wireless Access Point MikroTik Metal 52 ac
The MikroTik Metal 52 ac is an outdoor wireless access point designed for durable, long-range connectivity. It supports 802.11ac and selectable wireless bands (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) with channel widths up to 80 MHz, and includes a Gigabit Ethernet port to make use of the higher wireless throughput. The device features Power over Ethernet (PoE) operation (10–30 V), a detachable omni-directional antenna with up to 8 dBi gain, 16 MB flash and 64 MB RAM, and a metallic enclosure suited for pole mounting.
The Metal 52 ac combines 802.11ac performance with legacy mode compatibility (802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz and 802.11 a/n/ac on 5 GHz), providing flexible deployment options. A built-in Gigabit Ethernet port helps deliver higher end-to-end speeds, while PoE support simplifies installation and eliminates the need for separate power wiring. Its compact metallic housing and detachable antenna make it suitable for outdoor installations in exposed locations.
Mount the Metal 52 ac on a pole or suitable outdoor fixture and attach the provided omni-directional antenna. Connect the device to a Gigabit Ethernet switch or router using an RJ-45 cable that supplies PoE within the 10–30 V range. Access RouterOS via the web interface or Winbox to configure wireless band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz), channel width, SSID, security settings and other network parameters. Verify antenna orientation and perform a site survey to choose the best channel and band for reliable links.
For best performance, use the 5 GHz band with 80 MHz channel width where local regulations and interference conditions allow; switch to 2.4 GHz for greater range or legacy client support. Ensure proper grounding and outdoor-rated cabling for long-term reliability.
