Router Mikrotik NetMetal 5 5 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11ac
The Mikrotik NetMetal 5 (RB922UAGS-5HP) is an outdoor 802.11ac router in a waterproof metal enclosure, providing 5 GHz Wi‑Fi and a single Gigabit Ethernet port. It combines a high‑output dual‑chain 2x2 wireless radio with a 720 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, an SFP cage, USB, and RP‑SMA connectors for external antennas. The casing is solid aluminum that serves as a heat sink and is designed for rugged outdoor use while allowing easy one‑hand access. The device supports a miniPCI‑Express slot and a SIM slot for 3G/4G modems or additional wireless cards and ships with RouterOS Level 4 license. The unit supports Power over Ethernet and has a maximum power consumption of 19 W.
The NetMetal 5 offers high‑power 5 GHz 802.11ac wireless in a weatherproof metal housing that doubles as a heat sink, enabling stable operation in harsh outdoor conditions. Expandability is provided via a miniPCI‑Express slot and SIM slot for cellular backup or additional radios. External antennas can be connected through two RP‑SMA connectors, and the inclusion of an SFP cage, USB port and Gigabit Ethernet ensures flexible wired connectivity. RouterOS L4 provides routing and wireless management features suitable for many deployments.
Mount the NetMetal 5 outdoors on a pole or other suitable bracket, connect a Gigabit Ethernet cable to the LAN port and provide power via PoE. If cellular backup or an additional radio is required, install a compatible miniPCI‑Express card or insert a SIM‑equipped 3G/4G modem into the SIM slot following the manufacturer’s instructions. Attach external antennas to the RP‑SMA connectors if improved link performance is needed. Configure wireless, network and routing settings using RouterOS through Winbox, WebFig or the command line.
Install the unit with adequate environmental clearance for airflow to allow the aluminum enclosure to dissipate heat. Use compatible antennas and cables for outdoor deployment and ensure the SIM/modem and miniPCI‑Express card are supported by RouterOS firmware versions used.
