Hole saw for metal MODECO MN-61-423 bi-metal 64 mm
MODECO MN-61-423 bi-metal 64 mm hole saw is designed for cutting precise circular openings in metal. Made from bi-metal construction, this hole saw combines a high-speed steel cutting edge with a flexible backing to improve wear resistance and toughness. It is compatible with standard arbors and can be used with hand drills and drill presses for tasks requiring round cutouts in sheet metal, thin-walled profiles and light fabrication work.
The bi-metal construction offers enhanced durability and resistance to heat and wear compared with standard carbon steel saws. A 64 mm diameter provides a common size for pipe entries, conduit holes and ventilation openings. The saw's teeth geometry and material balance cutting speed with tool life, reducing the likelihood of premature dulling when used on thin to medium thickness metals. Compatibility with standard arbors makes mounting straightforward and enables use with a wide range of drilling tools.
Securely mount the hole saw on a compatible arbor and tighten according to the arbor manufacturer's instructions. Mark the centre point of the desired hole and use a pilot drill to create a guiding hole if needed. When using a hand drill, hold the tool steady and apply even pressure; when using a drill press, set appropriate spindle speed for metal cutting and clamp the workpiece to prevent movement. Apply cutting lubricant for cleaner cuts and reduced heat build-up. After cutting, remove burrs with a deburring tool or file.
Use cutting fluid on ferrous metals and reduce spindle speed for thicker or harder materials. Avoid excessive side pressure and allow the saw to cut at its own rate to extend tool life. Inspect teeth before use and replace the hole saw if teeth are damaged or excessively worn.
