Drill bit for wood MODECO MN-61-620 flat spade hex shank 20 mm
Drill bit for wood MODECO MN-61-620 flat spade hex shank 20 mm
Flat spade drill bit MODECO MN-61-620 with a 20 mm cutting diameter is designed for making clean large-diameter holes in wood. The flat/ladder-style blade removes material quickly while the sharpened cutting edges produce efficient penetration. A hexagonal shank secures the bit in chucks and quick-change holders to reduce slipping during drilling. This tool is intended for carpentry, joinery and general woodwork where larger holes for fittings, cables or dowels are required.
The flat spade geometry enables rapid chip evacuation and faster drilling in soft and hardwoods compared with twist bits of similar diameter. The sharp cutting edges at the tip and the flat blade give consistent hole diameter and straight entry when used at recommended speeds. The hex shank provides improved grip in standard chucks and eliminates rotation slippage in quick-change systems, enhancing safety and work continuity.
Secure the bit in the drill chuck or quick-change holder, making sure the hex shank is fully seated. Mark the drilling point on the workpiece and, if necessary, clamp the piece to prevent movement. Start drilling at low speed to establish a straight entry, then increase speed while applying steady, moderate pressure. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips when drilling deep holes. After use, clean wood debris from the blade and shank to maintain cutting performance.
Use appropriate drill speed for the wood type—lower speeds for hardwoods and higher speeds for softwoods—and wear eye and hand protection. Pre-drill pilot marks for precise positioning and clamp the workpiece to reduce wandering. For longer service life, avoid overheating by using intermittent drilling and clearing chips frequently.
