Hand Tap Set MODECO MN-62-040 — M10, 3 pieces
Hand Tap Set MODECO MN-62-040 contains three M10 taps designed for manual cutting or restoring of internal threads in metal and other machinable materials. The set provides the standard three-step sequence—typically rough, intermediate, and finish—to allow progressive material removal and reduce the risk of tap breakage during hand threading. It is intended for repair, maintenance and small workshop tasks where M10 thread creation or restoration is required.
The three-piece configuration offers a controlled, stepwise approach to creating M10 internal threads, improving thread quality and reducing hand force compared with attempting a full-depth thread in a single pass. Made for manual use, the taps are sized and sequenced to minimize wear and to facilitate safer, more accurate tapping in confined or portable work situations. The compact set is convenient to store and carry for on-site repairs.
Select the appropriate tap from the sequence and ensure the workpiece has a correctly sized pilot hole. Secure the workpiece to prevent movement, apply suitable cutting fluid, and start by engaging the first (rough) tap to establish the thread. Turn the tap slowly and evenly with a tap wrench, backing off periodically to break chips and clear debris. Progress through the intermediate and finish taps to achieve the final thread profile. Inspect the thread for correct fit and clean any residual chips or cutting fluid after tapping.
Use a correctly sized drill for the pilot hole and a compatible tap wrench. Apply cutting fluid appropriate to the work material, clear chips frequently by reversing the tap, and avoid excessive torque to reduce the risk of tap breakage. Store the taps dry and protected from impact to maintain cutting edges.
