Hand Saw NEO tools 44-612
The NEO tools 44-612 hand saw is a lightweight Japanese-style fine cutting saw designed for precision work. Weighing approximately 174 g and fitted with a 250 mm manganese steel blade, this model features teeth on both sides for versatile cutting: one side with 9 TPI for cutting lengthwise (along the grain) and the other with 11 TPI for cross-grain cuts. Teeth are three-sided sharpened and induction hardened to reduce cutting resistance and prolong blade life. The saw is supplied as a single-piece pack and is suitable for dry wood, plywood and chipboard.
The double-sided blade provides two cutting options in one tool, allowing clean rip and cross cuts without changing saws. The manganese steel blade combines flexibility with strength, while induction-hardened, three-sided sharpened teeth deliver efficient, low-resistance cutting and extended durability. At 174 g the saw is easy to handle for precise controlled cuts and reduces user fatigue during repetitive tasks. The 250 mm blade length offers a balance between reach and maneuverability for common woodworking tasks.
Grip the saw with a secure, comfortable hold and position the blade so the appropriate side of teeth faces the cut direction: use the 9 TPI side for cutting along the grain and the 11 TPI side for cross-grain cuts. Mark the cut line clearly and start with a few light back-and-forth strokes to establish the kerf, then continue with steady, even strokes using the full length of the blade. Apply moderate, consistent pressure—let the sharpened and hardened teeth do the cutting. For safety, ensure the workpiece is clamped or supported and keep hands clear of the blade path.
Use the rip-side (9 TPI) when cutting lengthwise to maintain straight, efficient cuts and switch to the cross-side (11 TPI) for smoother finishes across the grain. Keep the blade clean and free of resin or dust build-up; periodically inspect teeth for damage and replace the saw if teeth are worn or broken. Store the saw dry and protected to preserve tooth hardness and blade integrity.
