Neutral density camera filter Hoya PRO ND EX Filter Kit 58 mm

The Hoya PRO ND EX Filter Kit (58 mm) contains three neutral density filters—PROND EX 8, PROND EX 64 and PROND EX 1000—designed to reduce the amount of light entering the lens and enable longer exposures or wider apertures. This kit is intended for still photography and HDSLR videography, helping photographers and video creators control shutter speed and depth of field to achieve motion blur, shallow depth of field or extreme light reduction effects. The filters use Hoya’s clear optical glass with a metallic coating on both sides and ACCU‑ND coating technology for a neutral color balance, and they are mounted in a thick aluminum frame to minimise light leakage.

How to use

Attach a PROND EX filter with the correct 58 mm thread to your lens. Choose PROND EX 8 for small exposure reduction when using wide apertures in daylight (portraits with shallow depth of field), PROND EX 64 for stronger motion blur effects during daytime landscape or city shots, and PROND EX 1000 for extreme (10‑stop) light reduction used to create surreal long‑exposure effects. For video, select the ND filter or combination that allows you to maintain the desired shutter speed for natural motion (for example when using Sony S‑Log with high base ISO). Filters can be stacked to combine their light‑reduction values when a single filter is insufficient.

Usage recommendations

Combine PROND EX 8 + PROND EX 64 to obtain roughly ND500 equivalent effect, or PROND EX 8 + PROND EX 1000 to approach ND8000 equivalent; use combinations carefully to avoid vignetting and check exposure and white balance when stacking filters.
