Polylactic Acid (PLA) Silk 3D Printing Filament, Multicolour Solar Eclipse, 1.75 mm, 1 kg
Polylactic Acid (PLA) Silk 3D Printing Filament, Multicolour Solar Eclipse, 1.75 mm, 1 kg is a silk-finish PLA filament designed for FDM/FFF desktop 3D printers that accept 1.75 mm filament. The multicolour Solar Eclipse effect creates gradual colour transitions along printed parts while the silk formulation delivers a glossy, smooth surface that reduces visible layer lines. This filament is supplied on a 1 kg spool and is intended for prototyping, decorative objects, models and small functional parts where the visual finish and standard PLA printing properties are suitable.
The silk-modified PLA offers improved surface sheen compared to standard PLA, providing a satin-gloss finish that highlights contours and details without additional post-processing. Multicolour distribution along the filament produces dynamic colour shifts in single-extrusion prints, enabling visually engaging results without changing filaments during a print. The material retains common PLA benefits: ease of printing at moderate temperatures, low warping on standard print beds and biodegradability under industrial composting conditions.
Load the 1.75 mm filament into any compatible FDM/FFF printer following the printer manufacturer's instructions. Recommended print temperature range for silk PLA is typically similar to standard PLA; start within the printer's common PLA temperature window and adjust in small increments to optimise flow and surface finish. Use moderate print speeds to preserve the silk sheen and reduce stringing. A heated bed set at a low temperature or an adhesion aid such as blue tape or glue stick may be used to improve first-layer adhesion if needed.
To achieve the best silk-like surface and visible colour transitions, print with a consistent extrusion temperature and moderate cooling. For fine surface quality, use layer heights compatible with your nozzle size (for example 0.1–0.2 mm with a 0.4 mm nozzle). Store the filament in a dry environment or sealed container with desiccant to prevent moisture uptake that can affect print quality.
