Mellanox MMA1B00-C100D Optical Transceiver is a pluggable QSFP28 module for 100Gb/s Ethernet over parallel multimode fiber (MMF). The module uses a nominal wavelength of 850 nm, supports up to 100 m reach over MMF with an MPO connector, and implements four optical channels operating up to 25.78125 GBd each. The transceiver is SFF-8665 compliant, provides a standard QSFP28 electrical interface (CAUI-4) toward the host, and includes Mellanox integrated circuit technology for efficient, low-power operation.
The MMA1B00-C100D offers a compact QSFP28 form factor that enables 100GbE links while keeping power consumption low (typical 1.8 W). Its four-channel parallel architecture via an MPO connector simplifies connectivity for short-range data center links on multimode ribbon fiber. SFF-8665 compliance and production testing ensure compatibility and reliable out-of-the-box performance. Digital diagnostics monitoring (DDMI) provides operational visibility of optical and electrical parameters.
Insert the QSFP28 transceiver into a compatible QSFP28 port on a switch or router until it latches. Connect an MPO-terminated multimode ribbon fiber cable to the MPO receptacle, ensuring correct polarity and clean fiber end faces. The host will enumerate the module via the CAUI-4 electrical interface; monitor link status and DDMI parameters through the host management interface. Remove the module by releasing the latch and gently pulling it from the port when powered down or as allowed by your equipment vendor's hot-swap guidance.
Use OM3/OM4 multimode fiber for reliable operation at the specified distances, inspect and clean MPO connectors before mating, and follow your switch or router vendor's compatibility list to ensure full interoperability.
