Expansion card Klark Teknik DN32-ADAT ADAT interface card for DN-series mixers
The Klark Teknik DN32-ADAT expansion card provides ADAT optical I/O for DN-series digital mixers, enabling multichannel digital audio transfer over Toslink connections. Designed specifically for integration with compatible DN mixers, this card adds eight channels per ADAT port of digital input and output, allowing expansion of the mixer’s channel routing and digital connectivity without additional converters. The module is intended for use in live sound reinforcement, studio recording setups and fixed installations where ADAT-format multichannel links are required between devices.
This expansion card delivers low-latency multichannel digital audio transfer via standard optical ADAT connections, reducing the need for analog wiring and extra A/D or D/A stages. Its form factor and connector placement match DN-series card slots for straightforward installation and compatibility with existing system routing. The ADAT interface supports synchronized optical channels to preserve channel alignment and simplifies integration with recorders, converters or other ADAT-capable equipment.
Install the DN32-ADAT card into an empty expansion slot on a compatible DN-series mixer following the mixer’s service manual and with power removed. Connect ADAT-compatible devices using standard Toslink optical cables, observing correct channel assignment and clocking settings in the mixer’s I/O routing and sync menus. Verify sample rate and word clock settings across devices to ensure stable digital transfer and proper channel mapping. After installation and cabling, restore power and use the mixer’s routing interface to assign the ADAT inputs and outputs to desired mixer channels or bus paths.
Use high-quality, undamaged Toslink cables of appropriate length to maintain signal integrity. When connecting multiple digital devices, designate a single master clock or enable appropriate sync modes in the mixer to avoid clock conflicts. Check channel routing and sample rate compatibility before recording or live use to ensure reliable multichannel operation.
