Description

The POE Detector OEM POE-D is a compact keychain-style tester for detecting Power over Ethernet on RJ45 Ethernet cables. It identifies presence of PoE and distinguishes between IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt standards as well as passive PoE, indicates approximate voltage, pair distribution and polarity, and supports both mode A and mode B wiring.

How to use

Connect the POE-D detector to an Ethernet cable using the RJ45 connector. The LED indicators will light to show detection of PoE, approximate voltage level, pair allocation (mode A or B) and polarity. To detect PoE from a switch, connect the detector at the far end of the cable; a PoE-enabled switch will pulse power and the detector’s LEDs will indicate presence up to typical cable distances (tested up to 100 m). Use the keychain strap to carry the device on-site.

Usage recommendations

Use the detector only on inactive or monitored links when possible and avoid exposure to voltages above the specified 57 V maximum. For accurate troubleshooting combine LED indications with a full PoE tester or multimeter when voltage measurements are required.
