Cable insulation removal knife ORBIS 48-5 — manual stripping tool

ORBIS 48-5 cable insulation removal knife is a manual stripping tool designed for removing outer insulation from cables. The tool is intended for precision insulation cutting and stripping tasks in electrical installation, maintenance and repair. It provides a controlled blade for safe removal of insulation on-site or in workshop environments.

Advantages

The ORBIS 48-5 features a compact and ergonomic handle that allows stable grip and accurate control during stripping operations. Its fixed blade geometry enables repeatable cuts with minimal risk of damage to underlying conductors. The tool is lightweight and portable, making it suitable for field service technicians and electricians who perform frequent cable preparation. Its simple construction reduces maintenance needs and allows quick visual inspection of the blade condition.

Suitable for

• Stripping outer insulation from power and control cables
• Electrical installation and connection preparation
• Maintenance and repair work in workshops and on-site
• Situations requiring precise, controlled insulation removal

Key specifications

• Type: manual insulation removal knife
• Function: precision cutting and stripping of cable outer insulation
• Blade: fixed cutting blade designed for controlled scoring
• Handle: ergonomic design for stable grip and accuracy
• Weight: lightweight for portable use (hand tool)
• Typical use environments: on-site and workshop applications

How to use

Place the knife on the cable outer sheath and apply light, even pressure while rotating the cable or tool to score the insulation. Continue until the insulation is cut through, then remove the cut section by pulling it away from the conductor. Maintain a consistent angle to the blade to avoid nicking or cutting conductor strands. Inspect the conductor visually after stripping to confirm there is no damage before making connections.

Usage recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection when working with live or potentially energized cables. Confirm cables are de-energized before use when possible. Regularly check the blade condition and replace the tool if the blade is chipped or excessively worn to maintain safe and accurate stripping performance.
