The Park Tool CM-5.3 Blue Cyclone™ chain cleaner is a hands-on maintenance tool for cleaning bicycle chains without removing them from the bike. It combines a solvent reservoir, multiple rotating bristles and a two-stage cleaning path to remove grime, grease and metallic debris. The unit is compatible with a wide range of multi-speed drivetrains and includes design elements to reduce dripping and collect particles removed from the chain.

How to use

Fill the Cyclone™ reservoir with an appropriate chain-cleaning solvent up to the indicated level, position the tool around the chain while the bicycle is stable, and rotate the drivetrain so the chain passes through the rotating brushes. Use several full revolutions in the first stage, then continue through the second stage for deeper cleaning. As the chain exits the tool, the sponge helps wick excess solvent back into the unit. After cleaning, wipe the chain dry and apply lubricant according to the chain manufacturer’s recommendations.

Usage recommendations

Use solvents and lubricants in a well-ventilated area and follow manufacturer safety instructions. Do not overfill the reservoir. Inspect the magnet and bristles regularly and replace the unit if bristles become worn or if the sponge and magnet no longer function effectively. For best results, clean the chain before it becomes excessively contaminated and re-lubricate after drying.
