Lens Mount Adapter Pixco: Canon EF/EF-S lens to Canon FD camera mount
Lens Mount Adapter Pixco: Canon EF/EF-S lens to Canon FD camera mount
The Pixco lens mount adapter allows Canon EF and EF-S lenses to be mounted on cameras with Canon FD mounts. This mechanical adapter provides a secure physical connection between EF/EF-S optics and FD-mount camera bodies, enabling the use of modern and legacy lenses on older camera systems. The adapter does not transfer electronic data, so autofocus, aperture control via the camera body, and electronic lens information are not available; aperture and focusing must be set manually on the lens.
The adapter preserves a reliable flange connection and alignment for consistent imaging performance when mounting EF/EF-S lenses on FD cameras. Its simple, all-mechanical design makes it durable and easy to attach and remove without the need for batteries or firmware updates. The absence of electronic couplings eliminates potential compatibility conflicts and supports manual control workflows, useful when working with vintage bodies or adapting lenses for special techniques such as macro or creative manual focusing.
Align the red or white index marks on the adapter and the lens, then rotate the lens to lock it into the adapter in the same manner as attaching the lens to its native mount. After securing the lens to the adapter, align the adapter with the FD camera’s mount and rotate until it engages. Set the lens to manual aperture and manual focus; confirm infinity focus and framing through the viewfinder or live view and adjust as needed. When finished, reverse the steps to detach the adapter and lens.
Because the adapter provides no electronic communication, use lenses with manual aperture rings or stop down directly on the lens. Verify rear element clearance for wide-angle EF-S lenses before attaching to avoid contact with the camera mirror or shutter mechanism. For precise focusing and exposure, use live view or focus magnification when available, and consider a tripod for macro work or long exposures.
