PLANET WGS-E304PT is an industrial PoE extender that converts one 802.3bt PoE++ input into four 802.3af/at Gigabit PoE output ports. It supports up to 95 W from the PoE++ input and provides a combined power budget of up to 70 W to the four PoE output ports, while extending both Gigabit Ethernet data and IEEE 802.3at power over standard Cat 5/5e/6 UTP cable beyond the 100 m limit to distances up to 250 m. Housed in a compact metal case with front access, the device is designed for wall-, magnetic- or DIN-rail mounting and removes the need for additional local power adapters when adding PoE-powered devices at extended distances.

How to use

Place the WGS-E304PT in the enclosure or mounting location and connect the PoE++ power sourcing equipment (PSE) to the PoE IN RJ45 port. Connect up to four powered devices to the PoE OUT ports using Cat 5/5e/6 UTP cable. Select the operating mode (Standard, VLAN, or Extend) using the DIP switch on the unit according to network requirements: Standard for normal Gigabit switch behavior, VLAN to isolate port traffic, or Extend to enable 10 Mbps duplex operation and extend cable reach to 250 m. No external power adapter is required when the input PSE supplies sufficient PoE++ power.

Usage recommendations

For long-reach applications where 250 m is required, enable Extend mode and use quality Cat 5e/6 cables. Verify the PSE can supply up to 95 W and ensure the combined power requirements of connected PDs do not exceed the 70 W output budget. Install the unit in a ventilated enclosure or location within its -40 to 75 °C operating range and use the front access design for cabling and monitoring.
