Adapter bulb socket Plastrol AD-2714 — E27 to E14 white lamp converter

Plastrol AD-2714 is a compact adapter bulb socket that converts a standard E27 fitting to accept smaller E14 lamps. Finished in white, the adapter provides a simple mechanical interface that lets you fit E14 bulbs into fixtures originally designed for E27 lamps. The device requires no wiring changes and installs by screwing into the existing E27 socket, after which an E14 lamp is screwed into the adapter.

Advantages

The Plastrol E27 to E14 adapter offers a straightforward screw-in design that enables quick installation and removal. Its white finish blends with many fixtures and reduces visual contrast in visible lamp holders. The adapter preserves the mechanical and electrical connection required for standard E14 lamps while avoiding the need for rewiring or replacement sockets.

Suitable for

• Converting ceiling fixtures with E27 sockets to accept decorative E14 bulbs
• Using smaller E14 lamps in table lamps or floor lamps originally fitted for E27
• Temporary or permanent adaptation of light fittings during redecorating
• Fitting energy-saving or decorative bulbs with E14 bases into standard E27 fixtures

When it may not be suitable

This adapter is a mechanical converter and does not change electrical characteristics such as voltage or wattage. It may not be suitable if the fixture has insufficient clearance for the smaller bulb once fitted or if the lamp's heat dissipation is affected by the adapter and the fixture's enclosure. Do not use the adapter where the lamp's rated wattage would exceed the fixture's maximum allowed wattage.

Key specifications

• Conversion type: E27 (socket) to E14 (lamp holder)
• Colour: white
• Mounting: screw-in installation into standard E27 socket
• Material: plastic housing with conductive contacts (non-corrosive finish)
• Intended lamp base: E14 screw-base bulbs

How to use

Ensure power to the fixture is switched off and the existing bulb has cooled. Screw the adapter into the empty E27 socket until it is secure, taking care not to overtighten. Then screw the E14 bulb into the adapter until it seats firmly. Restore power and test the lamp. For replacement, switch off power again, allow cooling, unscrew the E14 lamp, and then remove the adapter if required.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify the fixture uses a standard E27 socket and the bulb you plan to use has an E14 base.
• Check the available clearance in the fixture for the E14 bulb once fitted with the adapter.
• Confirm the fixture's maximum permitted bulb wattage and use bulbs within that limit.
• Ensure the adapter's plastic housing is compatible with the heat output of the chosen bulb.

Usage recommendations

Use the adapter with bulbs rated within the fixture's wattage limit and avoid enclosed fixtures where heat buildup may be excessive. For long-term or permanent changes, consider replacing the socket or consulting a qualified electrician if the fixture shows signs of overheating or poor contact.
