USB to RS-485 Adapter PREMIUMCORD ku2-232D provides a USB 2.0 connection to a single-port RS-485 serial interface. The adapter converts USB signals to differential RS-485 levels (two-wire) for communication with industrial devices, controllers and instrumentation. It is powered from the USB bus and offers a DB9 male output or a short DB9-to-terminal-block adapter included in the package for direct wiring of Data+, Data-, 5V and GND.

The PREMIUMCORD ku2-232D supports USB 2.0 transfer rates and RS-485 data transfer from 300 bps up to 3 Mbps. It is plug-and-play, requires no external power supply, IRQ or I/O address, and supports hot swap. How to use

Install the appropriate FTDI driver for your operating system from the included CD or the manufacturer website. Connect the adapter to a host computer using the supplied USB cable. For RS-485 wiring use the DB9 male pins or attach the short terminal-block adapter: connect Data+ to Data+ and Data- to Data- between the adapter and the remote device, and connect GND between all devices; 5V is available on the terminal if external device power is needed. Multiple RS-485 devices can be daisy-chained on the same two-wire bus as shown in wiring examples.

Usage recommendations

For stable RS-485 communication, keep cable lengths and topology appropriate for baud rate, use proper termination resistors at bus ends when required, and ensure common ground connections between all devices. Prefer shielded twisted-pair cable for Data+ and Data- to reduce interference.
