Proline 49072 is a manual sanding roll measuring 150 mm in width and 5000 mm in length, supplied as a single piece. The continuous roll format enables users to cut custom lengths for hand sanding or use with manual holders. It is designed for surface preparation and finishing of wood, paint and primer layers, and for smoothing diverse substrates in restoration, carpentry and general workshop tasks.
The sanding roll features a normal full-alumina abrasive coating on an elastic cloth Type JC backing, with a synthetic resin binder that provides consistent cutting performance and wear resistance. Its cloth backing offers flexibility and tear resistance for hand-held use and contours, while the continuous roll format reduces waste by allowing precise length selection. The product is suitable for wet or dry sanding depending on application requirements and supports steady stock removal on a variety of materials.
Select a suitable abrading length from the roll and cut with appropriate shears or a utility knife. Attach the cut piece to a manual holder or use it directly for hand sanding. Use steady, even strokes along the workpiece, increasing or decreasing pressure to control material removal. Change to finer grits progressively when moving from coarse stock removal to finishing. Dispose of worn sections and cut fresh lengths as needed to maintain effective abrasive action.
For woodworking and finishing, begin with a coarser grit to level surfaces and transition to finer grits for smooth results. When working on painted or primed surfaces, test on a small area first and avoid excessive pressure to prevent substrate damage. Store the roll in a dry environment away from direct sunlight to preserve the binder integrity and flexibility of the cloth backing.
