Drill bit Proline HSS-TiN 4.0 mm, 2 pcs (model 5154354)
Proline HSS-TiN 4.0 mm drill bits, set of 2 (model 5154354) are designed for drilling in metal and common materials. Each bit has a 4.0 mm diameter, a working length of 43 mm and a total length of 75 mm. The bits are ground with a 135° point angle and have adjustable cutting lips for precise chip removal. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases wear resistance and improves hole finish, while the high-speed steel (HSS) core provides strength and toughness for general-purpose workshop and professional use.
The TiN coating extends tool life and reduces friction during drilling, resulting in cleaner holes and extended service intervals. The 135° point angle with chip-shedding geometry and adjustable lips enhances centring and reduces walking on metal surfaces. Compact dimensions (4.0 mm diameter, 43 mm working length) make these bits suitable for standard drilling tasks while the HSS construction ensures resistance to heat and mechanical stress.
Clamp the appropriate drill bit securely in the drill chuck and set the drill to a suitable speed for the material being drilled (lower speeds for hard metals). Use cutting fluid when drilling metal to reduce heat and prolong bit life. Start drilling with steady, even pressure and allow the bit to remove chips; withdraw periodically to clear chips when drilling deep holes. After use, clean off debris and store the bits in a protective case to avoid damage to the TiN coating.
For best results on steel and other hard materials, use a lubricant or cutting oil, maintain correct drill speed, and avoid excessive side pressure. Replace bits if the TiN coating is worn through or if the cutting edges become blunt to maintain hole quality and safety.
