Drill bit Proline 76160P, metal drill bit Ø16 mm, length 178 mm, 1 pc
Single Proline 76160P metal drill bit with a 16 mm diameter and 178 mm overall length. Made of HSS refined steel and compatible with the DIN 338 standard, this straight-shank drill bit is intended for drilling metal and similar hard materials. The bit features standard geometry suitable for general-purpose metalworking, maintenance and installation tasks and is supplied as a single piece in a PVC case.
The HSS refined steel composition ensures good wear resistance and heat tolerance when drilling metal; compatibility with the DIN 338 standard provides predictable shank and flute dimensions for secure clamping in hand drills and drill presses. A 13 mm relief length supports efficient chip removal and longer cutting life, while the straight shank design allows use in a wide range of drill chucks. Supplied in a PVC case for basic protection and convenient storage.
Secure the drill bit in the chuck of a hand drill or drill press, ensuring the straight shank is clamped firmly and runs true. Mark the drilling point on the workpiece and, if necessary, create a small centre punch mark to prevent walking. Use appropriate cutting speed and feed for the metal being drilled and apply cutting fluid to reduce heat and improve chip evacuation. Drill progressively and avoid excessive pressure; clear chips from the flute periodically to maintain cutting efficiency.
For best results when drilling metal, select a moderate RPM appropriate for HSS bits and the material thickness, use cutting fluid or lubricant, clamp the workpiece securely, and allow the bit to cool between long cuts. Store the bit in its PVC case to protect the cutting edges when not in use.
