Drill bit Proline 18 mm, length 191 mm, model 77180, metal drill bit, 1 pc
Proline 18 mm metal drill bit, length 191 mm, model 77180, is a single high-speed steel (HSS) twist drill designed for precise metalworking. The bit features a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment for faster entry and reduced need for centre punching, and is produced entirely by grinding to ensure straightness and dimensional accuracy. Supplied as one piece, the bit is intended for use in standard drill chucks in workshops, construction and maintenance environments that require large-diameter holes in metal.
The drill bit is made from refined HSS for increased abrasion resistance, resilience and torsional strength, providing longer tool life under heavy use. Fully ground flutes and cutting lips deliver accurate, straight holes and improved cutting efficiency compared with conventional cylindrical drills. The 135° point geometry with chamfering adjustment reduces walking on the material surface and speeds up drilling operations, while the 191 mm overall length gives reach for deeper holes or working through thicker components.
Secure the drill bit in a compatible drill chuck and tighten firmly to prevent slipping. Mark the drilling position, and where necessary use a centre punch to create a small dimple; the 135° point helps reduce the need for heavy centre punching. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed as appropriate for the metal type and thickness. Apply steady feed and moderate cutting lubricant for steel to reduce heat and extend tool life. Clear chips periodically to maintain cutting efficiency and avoid clogging.
Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling ferrous metals, maintain correct drill speed for an 18 mm HSS bit (lower speeds for harder steels), and avoid excessive side load to prevent breakage. Inspect the bit for wear or dulling and replace when performance declines to ensure consistent hole quality.
