Drill bit Proline 14 mm x 214 mm, metal, model 77514, 1 pc
Proline drill bit 14 mm x 214 mm, model 77514, is a single HSS metalworking drill designed for creating medium-diameter holes in steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. With a 14 mm cutting diameter and 214 mm overall length, the straight-shank bit fits hand drills and drill presses and is suitable for fabrication, maintenance and repair tasks that require accurate, rectilinear holes. The tool features a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment and full grinding to maintain hole accuracy and guidance when used with drill bushes.
The drill bit is manufactured from high-quality refined high-speed steel (HSS) and is fully ground to ensure straightness and dimensional accuracy. A 135° point with chamfering adjustment reduces walking at the start of drilling and improves entry on metal surfaces. The long grind accommodates deeper holes while maintaining stability and hole quality when used in drill presses or guided setups. Supplied individually in a protective rectangular plastic tube, the bit is protected during storage and transport.
Secure the workpiece and mark the drilling position. Select an appropriate cutting speed and feed for the material being drilled—lower speeds for harder steels, higher speeds for aluminium and plastics. Clamp the straight shank firmly in the drill chuck or press spindle. Start drilling with light pressure to establish the hole, then increase feed to maintain steady progress while avoiding overheating. Use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to extend tool life and improve chip evacuation. Periodically withdraw the bit to clear chips when drilling deep holes.
For optimal hole quality and extended tool life, use suitable cutting fluid for ferrous materials, maintain recommended speeds for HSS drills, and employ drill bushes or jigs when precise alignment is required. Store the bit in its protective plastic tube to prevent edge damage.
