Drill bit Proline 77625, metal drill bit Ø2.5 mm, length 180 mm, 1 pc
Single metal drill bit Proline 77625 with a diameter of 2.5 mm and overall length 180 mm. This extra-long, fully ground HSS drill is designed for accurate small-diameter holes in steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment supports quick centring and smooth penetration, while the extended flute length provides access to deeper drilling positions in hand drills and drill presses. Supplied as one piece, this drill bit is suitable for light to medium metalworking, maintenance and assembly tasks that require precision.
The drill bit is manufactured from high-quality refined high-speed steel (HSS) and fully ground to ensure high accuracy and straightness of holes. Its 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment reduces walking at the start of drilling and speeds up marking and setup. The extra-long design allows drilling into deeper materials or through stacked parts without the need for extensions. The bit’s geometry and finish make it compatible with drill bushes and suitable for use in both hand-held drills and drill presses.
Secure the workpiece and select appropriate clamping or a drill vice to avoid movement. Fit the 2.5 mm HSS drill bit into the drill chuck and tighten securely. For metal drilling, use a suitable cutting fluid or lubricant and set the drill at an appropriate speed for the material to reduce wear and improve hole quality. Start drilling with light pressure to establish the centre and allow the 135° point to self-centre, then increase pressure steadily. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips and prevent clogging.
For best results, match drill speed and cutting fluid to the material: lower speeds for stainless steel, moderate speeds for mild steel and higher speeds for aluminium and plastics. When drilling deep holes, pecking (periodic extraction) helps evacuate chips and maintain cutting efficiency. Use proper eye protection and standard workshop safety practices.
