Proline 77635 is a single HSS metal drill bit with a 3.5 mm diameter and a total length of 210 mm, intended for drilling metal, non-ferrous alloys and plastics. The extra-long straight shank provides extended reach for through-holes, access to recessed areas and light fabrication tasks. The bit is fully ground for improved accuracy and straightness of holes and is supplied as one piece for use in standard drill chucks.
The drill bit features a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment for fast penetration and reduced walking at the start of drilling. Fully ground geometry ensures high dimensional accuracy and rectilinear holes, making it suitable for use with drill bushes. Manufactured from high-quality refined high-speed steel (HSS), the bit offers durability and reliable cutting performance in steel and softer materials. The extra length enables drilling deeper or harder-to-reach locations without extensions.
Secure the drill bit in a compatible drill chuck ensuring it is clamped straight and centered. Mark the drilling location and, if necessary, use a center punch to prevent walking. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed as appropriate for the material. Apply steady pressure and use cutting fluid when drilling steel to reduce heat and prolong tool life. Withdraw occasionally to clear chips and maintain hole quality.
For best results when drilling metal, use appropriate cutting lubricant, moderate speeds, and avoid excessive axial force. When working with thin sheet metal, support the workpiece or use a backing plate to reduce burrs and distortion. Store the bit in a dry place to prevent corrosion and inspect before use for any damage.
