Drill bit Proline 77660, metal, Ø 6 mm, length 260 mm, 1 pc
Single Proline 77660 metal drill bit with a 6 mm diameter and 260 mm overall length, intended for drilling metal and other hard materials with handheld or bench drills. The bit is made from refined high-speed steel (HSS) and features full grinding for accurate, straight holes. Its 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment supports fast penetration and reduced walking at the start of the cut. The extra-long design allows access to deep or hard-to-reach locations and is suitable for through and blind holes in steel, iron and similar alloys.
The HSS construction provides wear resistance and reliable cutting performance in a range of metals and plastics. Fully ground flutes ensure high dimensional accuracy and rectilinear hole results, which is especially beneficial when using drill bushes. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment enables quicker drilling and improved centring. The straight shank allows standard chuck mounting and stable operation in handheld and bench drills.
Secure the straight shank in the drill chuck and tighten firmly to prevent slippage. Select an appropriate rotational speed and feed rate for the work material: lower speeds for harder steels, higher speeds for softer metals and plastics. Apply steady pressure without forcing the bit; allow the cutting edges to do the work. Use cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel or alloys to reduce heat, improve tool life and produce cleaner chips. Retract occasionally to clear chips when drilling deep holes.
For best results, clamp the workpiece securely and, when precision is required, use a centre punch or drill bush to improve centring. Keep the bit cool with cutting fluid during prolonged use and replace if excessive wear or deformation appears. Store the bit in its case to protect the cutting edges.
