Proline 77665 is a single HSS metal drill bit with a nominal diameter of 6.5 mm and an overall length of 275 mm. Manufactured from high-quality refined high-speed steel (HSS) and fully ground, this extra-long drill is intended for through and deep-hole work in steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment ensures fast penetration and precise centring, and the fully ground flute geometry promotes straight, accurate holes suitable for use with drill bushes and guided drilling setups.
The Proline 6.5 mm drill bit combines extra length and high-quality HSS material to provide increased reach for deep holes while maintaining rigidity and wear resistance. Fully ground flutes and precision sharpening deliver rectilinear holes and consistent performance across repeated operations. The 135° point angle reduces walking at start and improves entry on metal surfaces, and the single-piece construction suits both handheld drills and drill presses.
Secure the workpiece and, when possible, use a centre punch or pilot hole to improve start accuracy. Install the drill bit in the chuck ensuring concentric clamping and minimal runout. For metal drilling, use appropriate cutting fluid and a steady feed rate to prolong tool life; for plastics, reduce speed and use gentle feed to avoid melting. When drilling deep holes, periodically withdraw the bit to clear chips and maintain coolant contact. Use drill bushes or a drill press for best guidance and hole straightness.
Operate at speeds and feeds appropriate for the material: lower speeds and cutting fluid for steel, moderate speeds for non-ferrous metals, and reduced speeds for plastics. Maintain alignment and clear chips regularly to preserve drill geometry and achieve accurate, straight holes.
