Drill bit Proline 77800 — 1 pc, general-purpose metal/wood drilling
Proline 77800 drill bit is a single-piece general-purpose drill designed for drilling in common materials such as wood, soft metals, steel sheets and plastics. The cutting geometry and titanium nitride coating improve wear resistance and enable cleaner hole edges with reduced burr formation. The bit is supplied as one piece with a roller shank compatible with standard drill chucks, suitable for use in handheld drills and drill presses for repair, construction and DIY tasks.
The drill bit is made from 4241 HSS and coated with titanium nitride to enhance hardness and prolong tool life. Its self-centring tip reduces walking on rounded and slippery surfaces, ensuring more accurate starts without the need for pilot holes. The design provides rapid heat dissipation during drilling in harder materials, while the cutting geometry keeps hole edges clean and largely burr-free. The roller shank offers secure grip in standard chucks and reduces slippage during operation.
Secure the Proline 77800 drill bit in a compatible chuck and ensure it is tightened to prevent slippage. Select a suitable spindle speed for the material: lower speeds for metals and higher speeds for wood and plastics. Apply steady, moderate pressure and allow the drill bit to do the cutting; avoid excessive force which can cause overheating or premature wear. For thicker or harder metal sheets, consider intermittent drilling to allow cooling. After use, remove metal chips and check the cutting edges for wear before storing.
Use cutting fluid or light oil when drilling metal to extend tool life and improve hole finish. For best accuracy on rounded or slippery surfaces, start drilling at low speed until the self-centring tip has established the pilot point. Replace the bit when signs of wear or chipping appear to maintain clean hole edges and consistent performance.
