Drill bits Proline 78045K, metal, diameter 4.5 mm, length 80 mm, 2 pcs
Set of two Proline metal drill bits with a 4.5 mm diameter and 80 mm overall length, designed for drilling precise holes in metal and other hard materials. These straight-shank HSS-Co bits are intended for use in handheld drills and drill presses and are supplied in a blister pack that protects the cutting edges during storage and transport.
The bits feature a 135° split-point geometry with chamfering adjustment that reduces walking at the start and allows faster, more accurate entry into the workpiece. Manufactured from high-class high-speed steel with 5% cobalt, they offer increased heat resistance and maintain hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. Fully ground flutes and cutting edges ensure high concentricity and rectilinear holes, while the alloy composition and geometry make the drills suitable for demanding materials such as stainless and heat-resistant steels and cast iron.
Mark the drilling position and secure the workpiece to prevent movement. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for drilling metal to reduce heat and extend tool life. Start at low speed to establish the hole, then increase speed as appropriate for the material and drill diameter while maintaining firm, steady feed pressure. Clear chips frequently to avoid clogging the flutes. After use, clean the bits and store them in their blister pack to protect the cutting edges.
For best results when drilling stainless or heat-resistant steels, use a suitable coolant, moderate feed pressure and avoid excessive speeds that can overheat the bit. Re-sharpen using professional grinding equipment if required to restore the original 135° geometry and cutting performance.
