Proline metal drill bit 13 mm x 151 mm model 79130K is a single high-speed steel (HSS) cutting tool intended for drilling holes in steel and other metals. The solid cylindrical design and 151 mm overall length make it suitable for use with hand drills and drill presses. The bit features ground cutting edges and a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment to enable fast centre penetration and stable drilling performance when creating 13 mm bores.
This Proline 13 mm metal drill bit is manufactured from refined HSS for wear resistance and consistent cutting. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment reduces walking on the workpiece and shortens the time needed for centre punching. Precisely ground edges improve chip formation and extend tool life. The single-piece supply in a protective blister pack ensures safe storage and handling.
Clamp the workpiece securely and select an appropriate drill chuck that accepts a 13 mm shank. Mark the drilling position and, if required, use a centre punch to create a small dimple to prevent walking. Fit the drill bit into the chuck and tighten according to the drill manufacturer’s instructions. Use steady feed pressure and moderate speed suitable for HSS in metal; apply cutting fluid or lubricant where recommended to reduce heat and improve tool life. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips if drilling deep holes.
For best performance when drilling steel, use appropriate cutting speed for HSS (lower speeds for harder steels), apply cutting fluid, and ensure the workpiece is well supported. Do not exceed recommended feed forces to avoid premature wear or breakage.
