Drill bit Proline 79051K — solid metal, Ø 5.1 mm, length 86 mm, 1 pc
Single Proline 79051K metal drill bit with a 5.1 mm cutting diameter and an overall length of 86 mm. Manufactured from refined high-speed steel (HSS) with ground cutting edges and a 135° point angle featuring chamfering adjustment, this solid metal bit is intended for drilling through and pilot holes in steel and other metals. Supplied as a single piece in a blister pack, the drill bit fits both handheld drills and drill presses for general metalworking, maintenance, and repair tasks.
The refined HSS construction and ground edges provide consistent cutting performance and improved wear resistance during repetitive metal drilling. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment reduces walking and supports quick, accurate starts, which helps maintain hole position without extensive centre punching. The solid one-piece design offers rigidity for straighter holes and reliable tool life in typical workshop and on-site applications.
Mark the hole position and secure the workpiece to prevent movement. Select an appropriate drill speed for the material and apply steady, moderate feed pressure. Start drilling at low speed to establish the hole and then increase speed as the bit engages. Use cutting fluid or lubricant for steels and dense alloys to reduce heat and extend tool life. Withdraw the bit periodically to clear chips when drilling deep holes and allow the bit to cool if it becomes hot.
For best results when drilling metal, use cutting fluid, clamp the workpiece securely, and match drill speed to the material hardness. Replace the bit if cutting performance declines or if the tip is visibly worn.
