Drill chuck Proxxon 28122 for Proxxon TBM115 bench drill press, black
Proxxon 28122 is a black replacement drill chuck engineered for use with the Proxxon TBM115 bench drill press. It accepts small-diameter drill shanks and secures bits for precision drilling on model-making, electronics, watchmaking and light workshop tasks. The chuck is a Roehm-manufactured unit designed to maintain concentricity at higher spindle speeds and comes with a matching chuck key and a 3/8"-24 threaded mount for direct installation on the TBM115 spindle.
The chuck supports shank sizes from 0.5 mm to 6.0 mm (1/64" to 1/4") and is specified for use at speeds up to 10,000 rpm, providing stable clamping for small bits. Machined components and precise jaws deliver reliable concentricity and reduced runout, which helps achieve cleaner holes in delicate materials. Supplied with a key, the unit allows secure tightening and quick bit changes while its compact design keeps the work area accessible on small bench presses.
Mount the chuck onto the TBM115 spindle using the 3/8"-24 thread and ensure it is fully seated. Insert the drill bit into the jaws, position it to the required protrusion and use the supplied chuck key to evenly tighten the jaws. Verify concentric alignment by rotating the spindle slowly before raising speed; re-tighten if any runout is noticed. Use appropriate cutting speeds and feeds for the material and drill diameter to preserve bit life and maintain hole quality.
For best results, select drill bits within the specified diameter range and avoid exceeding the 10,000 rpm recommendation. Periodically clean the chuck jaws and apply a light machine oil to moving parts to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth operation. Replace the chuck if excessive runout or jaw wear appears.
