Cutting Grinder Proxxon KG 50 — blade 1 mm, 85 W, AC-powered, 1.5 kg
Proxxon KG 50 is a compact mains-powered cutting and grinding tool designed for precise work on small parts. The unit features a 1 mm cutting blade and an 85 W AC motor, providing controlled low-power operation for trimming, cutting and fine finishing. Weighing 1.5 kg, the machine includes a moveable table that tilts through 45° for mitre cuts, an integrated clamping device with 27 mm wide jaws and a special slot for HO model tracks. Five ceramic cutting discs (50 x 1.0 x 10 mm) suitable for steel, non-ferrous metals, wood and plastic rods are supplied for immediate use.
The compact footprint and low weight make the machine easy to position on a workbench while the mains-powered 85 W motor provides steady, controllable cutting speed for delicate tasks. The tiltable table and accurate integrated clamp ensure reproducible cuts and safe workholding for small-diameter workpieces up to 20 mm and cutting depths to 13 mm. Ceramic discs composed of aluminium oxide and silicon carbide extend cutting life on a range of materials.
Secure the KG 50 on a stable bench and connect to the appropriate AC supply. Select a ceramic cutting disc suitable for the material and fit it according to the manufacturer's mounting instructions, ensuring the disc is tightened and correctly seated. Position the workpiece in the integrated clamp and tighten the jaws firmly; use the provided slot for HO track pieces when needed. Adjust the table angle for mitre cuts up to 45° and set the fence for the required length. Feed the workpiece steadily into the rotating disc, applying light, consistent pressure and avoiding excessive force to prevent disc damage or overheating. After cutting, switch off power and wait for the disc to stop completely before removing the workpiece or changing discs.
Use safety eyewear, hearing protection and a dust mask when cutting. Choose the ceramic discs according to material: discs with the supplied aluminium oxide/silicon carbide mix are suitable for steel, non-ferrous metals, small wooden and plastic rods. Avoid side-loading the 1 mm blade; make straight, controlled cuts and let the tool do the work to prolong disc life. Inspect discs for cracks or chips before each use and replace if damaged.
