Reolink E Series E540 is a Smart PTZ WiFi Camera offering 5 MP resolution and a 2.8–8 mm varifocal lens with an aperture of F1.6. The camera supports remote pan, tilt and zoom control (PTZ) over WiFi and uses H.264 video compression. Integrated motion-activated spotlights provide active illumination for detected events. The housing is IP65-rated for weather resistance and the camera accepts local storage via microSD card (maximum 256 GB). The Reolink E540 is designed for outdoor surveillance where adjustable field of view, night illumination and remote orientation are required.
The Reolink E540 combines 5 MP image quality with a 2.8–8 mm varifocal lens to deliver adjustable field of view and clear detail. PTZ functionality allows remote pan, tilt and zoom to follow subjects or inspect areas of interest. Built-in motion spotlights provide active lighting to improve detection and color imaging in low light conditions. H.264 compression reduces bandwidth and storage requirements. The IP65-rated housing enables outdoor use under rain and dust exposure, and local microSD storage up to 256 GB offers straightforward on-site recording.
Install the camera at a suitable outdoor location using weatherproof mounting hardware and ensure it has reliable WiFi coverage. Insert a compatible microSD card (up to 256 GB) for local recording if required. Use the Reolink mobile or desktop app to connect the camera to your network, configure PTZ presets, set motion detection zones and enable motion spotlight behavior. Adjust the varifocal lens to set the desired focal length between 2.8 mm and 8 mm for the preferred field of view. Use live view and playback features in the app to review recorded events and control pan/tilt/zoom remotely.
For best results, mount the camera at a stable height with a clear line of sight to the monitored area, avoid pointing the lens directly at strong light sources, and test motion detection sensitivity and spotlight settings to reduce false alerts. Regularly check firmware updates through the Reolink app and back up important recordings from the microSD card.
